So you want to be a green Consumer?*
DO:
- Fit energy-efficient light bulbs
- Insulate your house
- Wash your clothes at low temperature
- Use rechargeable batteries
- Fit water-saving devices to your toilets
- Buy FSC-certified wood and paper products
- Switch to a ‘green’ electricity supplier
- Buy an energy monitoring device
- Reuse gift wrapping paper
- Take trains and buses instead of driving
DON’T:
- Buy bottled water
- Leave your computer, TV, etc on standby
- Fly if you can avoid it
- Eat a lot of meat
- Buy a blacklisted fish
- Drive a gas-guzzling car
- Use a dryer
- Install air conditioning
- Buy ‘gas log’ or coal fires
- Buy incandescent or halogen light bulbs
